Meet Koko, The Gorilla Who Mastered Sign Language To Communicate With Humans

Although Koko desired to be a mother herself, she could never have offspring of her own. However, this didn’t stop the clever gorilla from bonding with other animals. She touched hearts across the globe when she became friends with an orphaned kitten.

In 1985, Koko asked for a cat. Without hesitation, her caretakers allowed her to pick one from a litter for her birthday. The sweet gorilla even named the little gray-and-white kitty “All Ball” and handled it gently as if it were her real baby.
