From Ants To Parrots, These Animals Deserve Accolades For Their Smartness!

When it comes to intelligence, humans are well ahead of other animals. But there are also lots of animals that can boast very impressive high levels of intelligence. These animals utilize and display their cleverness in different ways in their day-to-day lives. In this post, we’ll discuss five different animals and their intelligence. Let’s dive straight in.

Dolphins

The dolphin has to be on this list as they are one of the most intelligent animals in the world. Their large-sized brains filled with numerous neurons can be said to be one of the major factors contributing to their intelligence.

Due to their cleverness, dolphins are well able to mimic gestures, accurately memorize and remember, figure out situations, demonstrate self-awareness, and communicate quite effectively using language. Dolphins are thought to be second only to humans in terms of intelligence. 

African gray parrots

Parrots are well-known as talkatives. The African gray parrot, however, possesses an additional high level of intelligence. They have large brains like many other intelligent animals, and this is thought to be one of the reasons for their intelligence. 

Due to their intelligence, these parrots can team up with one another to get food, mimic human speech and sounds excellent, and amazingly perform simple addition and subtraction and count. They are said to be as smart as a four-year-old child.

Wolves

Wolves are highly intelligent animals. This family of dogs possesses highly developed brains, and the effects of genes can be said to be major factors that influence their intelligence. Their intellects, together with scenting abilities, make them excellent predators.

Wolves display their intelligence in numerous ways, like communing with other members of the pack using sounds, body language, and scents, remembering locations and sounds after a long time,  and solving complex problems. An average wolf can become as smart as a two-year-old kid.

Chimpanzees

Every member of the monkey family is intelligent, but the chimpanzee boasts higher intelligence than the rest. Their intelligence isn’t very surprising, as they share a high percentage of the human DNA. This results in an intellect no other animal can easily match.

Due to their cleverness, chimpanzees can live perfect social lives and also perform a lot of tasks like solving puzzles, working well with tools, and relating with humans successfully. They are also able to display empathy to other chimpanzees and humans. Chimpanzees are as intelligent as a Toddler.

Ants

These little creatures are probably the smartest in the insect kingdom. Their brain contains the highest number of neurons compared to other stinging insects. This, in turn, results in an increased level of intelligence. This intellect helps them in their day-to-day activities.

Ants put their intelligence to work in many ways, like communicating using touch and sounds, working as a group to solve problems, storing food for the wet seasons, and building anthills, among others. While their intelligence may not seem to be a great deal, ants are indisputably smart compared to humans.
