“Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” by George Seurat
This painting, easily one of the most famous pointillism paintings, also includes several dogs. Pointillism is a style of painting that consists of many small dots. This popular artwork employs the technique to depict a relaxed scene near the Seine River in Paris.
Seurat painted the work in 1884, later serving as the inspiration for the Broadway musical Sunday in the Park with George, created by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. Mandy Patinkin, an acting legend, played Georges Seurat in the original cast.
